The Story of Our Scarves
Every scarf has a beginning. This is ours.
A Discovery We Never Expected
Sometimes, the most important discoveries are the ones you were never looking for.
In September 2025, we travelled to Lviv to meet a shirt manufacturer.
The meetings were over, and we were simply walking through the city.
Then a small shop caught our attention.
Inside, we discovered delicate mohair scarves unlike anything we had seen before.
Not because they were knitted.
Not because they were handmade.
But because every flower had been felted directly into the mohair.
It was a technique that immediately fascinated us.
The workshop only had ten scarves available.
We bought every one of them.
More Than Beautiful
Back in Switzerland, we brought the scarves to our markets.
They quickly found new owners.
Again and again, customers stopped to ask the same question.
How is this made?
Even people with experience in knitting and textiles told us they had never seen this technique applied to mohair before.
That was when we realised we had discovered something truly special.
Creating Together
We called the workshop.
Would it be possible to create new designs together?
Their answer was simple.
Yes.
Until then, we had been selling their creations.
Drawing on our Swiss roots, we designed Edelweiss flowers and alpine motifs that became part of Tarcame's own identity.
Now we began creating our own.Each new scarf became a meeting point between remarkable craftsmanship and our own creative vision.
Always Looking
Our journey with scarves did not stop there.
It had only just begun.
Since then, we have continued searching for exceptional artisans and traditional techniques.
Some create flowers by felting wool directly into delicate mohair.
Others spend one, two or even three weeks crocheting a single shawl entirely by hand.
Each artisan has developed their own technique, their own style and their own story.
Many of these traditional skills are becoming increasingly rare.
Finding them is just as rewarding to us as creating new designs ourselves.
Every new discovery reminds us that beautiful craftsmanship deserves to be shared.
More Than an Accessory
To us, a scarf is much more than something that keeps you warm.
It carries time.
Patience.
Skill.
And the hands of the person who created it.
Every scarf reminds us why Tarcame exists.
To discover beautiful craftsmanship.
To help preserve it.
And to share it with people who appreciate the story behind what they wear.
